When we met in the Spring of 2011, a spell of silence was broken. Traesti began writing song after song, and sharing them with Alexandra. She found them enchanting and captivating, and was inspired to pick up her saxophone again. They began to casually experiment with making sounds together. After a couple of years and a handful of successful open mic performances, they began to realize the true potential of their musical chemistry.

At this point, Traesti went traveling and spent three months in Iceland, where he continued to construct unique musical masterpieces. Upon returning, Alexandra and Traesti hit the ground running, writing new parts and making the songs into true works of art.

We have spent the last four months traveling Europe with our instruments. Through these travels we have enjoyed reaching out and connecting with other artists, sharing our musical gifts, and learning from every path we follow.

Breaking The Spell acts simultaneously as our band name and mission statement: through music we aspire to uproot and challenge the paradigm of complacency in our culture and generation. We use music to rouse the spirit and evoke a sense of connection among listeners. With a goal to inspire hope and encourage passionate consciousness as a way of life, we will live by example as we begin Breaking the Spell.
