Rye Dawg Productions / Riley J. Connell
Owner / Sound Engineer

Professional Audio Engineer with over 20 years experience in recording, live sound (concert/theater), film, television, radio and voice over talent.

Riley started his career as an assistant engineer for Ed Mashal (Recording Engineer for the Eagles) at Criteria Studios and Quad Radial Studios in Miami, FL. way back in 1989. This led to a temporary Production Assistant/Assistant MIDI Tech position with Miami record producer Ramone Arcusa, who at the time was producing a Julio Iglesisas album at Criteria Studios. He was then hired as a staff engineer at New River Studios in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1990.

At New River, he worked on projects that earned three platinum album awards, one gold album award (Skid Row, Jimmy Buffett, Yngwie Malmsteen, Extreme), other projects hailed numerous Ampex Golden Reel Awards, an ADDY Award with Music a la Carte and a Grammy Nomination for best Mexican-American Vocal Album (Juan Gabriel-"El Mexico Que Se Nos Fue"). New River afforded Riley the chance to learn his craft with some real experts. He had the honor of working with some pretty well respected producers and engineers. Guys like Hans Zimmer, Jim Gaines, James & Ron Last, Tom Hartman, Ramone Arcusa, Rudy Perez, Michael Wagener, Erwin Musper, Mario Breuer, Eric Schilling, Russ Kunkle, Jeff Glixman, Ed Mashal, Jim Thomas, Larry Janus, and Dave Barton just to name a few (the list goes on and on). Each one provided Riley with more knowledge and insight than he could have ever imagined and he feels forever in their debt for showing him his true calling. In addition to recording albums, Riley worked on several films helping to record sound tracks, score, and looping for "Days of Thunder", Beverly Hills Cop III", "Super Mario Brothers", "The Specialist", "Kidnapped", & Disney's "Hunchback of Notre Dame"

Riley was then head hunted by Walt Disney Entertainment to be a live sound engineer. So in conjunction with IATSE, he started doing everything from sound design, sound system installation to mixing live shows and special events. He was also the engineer for a Beatles tribute band called The British Invasion. He attended Syn-Aud-Con seminars on electro-acoustics and was certified to voice sound systems for Disney.

During his tenure at Disney, Riley started Rye Dawg Productions. Rye Dawg was started in the fall of 2001 with one client doing a four song demo. That first client is now becoming very successful in NYC and her craft just gets better and better. Since that first simple session, Rye Dawg has recorded/co-produced many vocal demos, voice over's, music and sound fx tracks, mostly for actors/singers working on their professional reels and independent productions. Riley also works with several bands such as Contingency, 2nd X-it, Twisted Rhythm, G String Theory, Master Blasters, See No Evil,The Pheromones and Fully Loadid mixing their live sound, and has a great time doing it.

In January of 2010, Riley has joined the team at Urban Soundz Recording Studio, owned by recording artist Jen Stackpole, in Deltona, FL. and working with two great engineer/producers, Frank Starchak (Deltona Records Studio) & Adrian Sutton (Urban Soundz).

Riley is also a member of the QVC Remote Productions team for the QVC Television Network assisting in audio for remote telecasts around the country.

So if you're looking for a professional in the recording/live sound industry with a passion for doing things right the first time, please feel free to contact Riley. You can take a look at some of his production credits at www.ryedawg.com
