Hi, I’m Philip Quintas and I was born in New York City. I lived in Tucson for about a decade and now I happily reside just southeast of Fort Worth, Texas. You could say that I’m a Christian songwriter who plays and sings an eclectic form of Bluesy Folk Rock. However, I think that my decades-long dedication to the personal development/self-improvement mindset, as well as my practice of daily disciplines, has had a more profound influence on my personality than my passion for music has. I have a real, strong desire to serve other people and I’m on the lookout for more ways to grow with integrity throughout the day. One thing that makes me different from other singer/songwriters is that I draw upon elements of Jazz and the tradition of popular songs from the early to mid 1900s in my writing. I constantly make an effort to go beyond the limitations of my technique and education to find a spark of creativity in everything I do. Like many musicians, I have a wide range of influences that can be heard in the songs I get to sing and play. Instead of digging deep into a single genre, I combine styles and forms in an attempt to do what I can to lift up and advance the art and craft of songwriting. If asked, I would have to say that my greatest achievement was not something I did but the result of my writing a song that influenced a friend to take action; Chris Dansdill recorded my song “Set Free” live with the praise and worship team at Catalina United Methodist Church in Tucson, AZ. That counts as one of the top experiences of my life. I am also satisfied with my recording of “Saved, Through Faith” because it has a world-class spontaneous arrangement of lead breaks directed by recording engineer and co-producer Jeff Ward. The way Jeff influenced that session and pulled great performances out of Buddy Whittington (electric guitar) and Gary Grammer (harmonica) stands as one of the best moments I have ever had the privilege of facilitating over the past (almost) 40 years of making music.
