Lily Kiara is a folk pop singer/songwriter based in Amsterdam, NL. She writes sensory lyrics on melodies with a melancholic undertone. They often balance on a thin line between song and poem. Social consciousness intertwined with personal journeys.
She plays her songs unplugged in living room concerts, in bars and small theatres as well as with her full band The RIVER in bigger venues.

In June 2015 she first toured the East Coast and South of the USA, between NYC and New Orleans, invited to join her fellow artists Jimmy Robinson from New Orleans and Floatstone from Antwerp, Belgium, and photographer Cy Leong. Since then she tours yearly in the USA with Jimmy Robinson.

In 2006, she formed a band, The RIVER, in which three big loves come together in surprising ways: folk pop songs, improvised music and poetry. In 2013/2014 The RIVER played a short series of concerts in Amsterdam, titled The SWIM SESSIONS, with the final one in the Bimhuis. A CD of this concert is expected in the beginning of 2015.

Lily releases CDs on her own label for music and poetry Sibyl Sings. Her latest solo album Fishing In The Field released on Zip Records in 2016.

She opened for a.o. Duke Garwood (Mark Lanegan), Eric Anderson (Bob Dylan recorded a few of his songs) and Jennifer Terran (album The Musician was a favourite of Heaven Magazine). Besides her home base Amsterdam, she has played in places such as Seattle, NYC, Austin, Basel, Potsdam, Adelaide, Brussels and Berlin.

"Ani DiFranco, Joni Mitchell, Rickie Lee Jones, Suzanne Vega…Lily Kiara would love to connect to this line of musicians and that is exactly what she does with ‘Fishing In The Field’. And more, because with the addition of a number of jazz musicians she takes in a unique place in this line of female singer-songwriters. “… "Fishing In The Field has international allure and is in the area of singer-songwriters the best we heard so far this year."
(on album Fishing In The Field) Marc Alenus, damusic.be, 2016

“Intimate”…. “… the performance, in which the Amsterdam singer embraced the audience with lovely warm bath water, and once in a while letting loose a shark in the water, for the necessary bite. Warm songs but with a message.”
(live concert, Richard Wagenaar, thenextgig.nl, 2017)

"The RIVER is exceptional. Because of the combination of music genres that mingle and at the same time also don't mingle, but mostly very harmoniously live besides each other so it feels as if they mingle."
(Peter Bruyn in frnkfrt.net, 2016)

[…]Lily Kiara doesn’t choose the common path, which makes this a wonderful album to listen to. A record that reminds of the early works of Joni Mitchell or Suzanne Vega.”
