I only heard one song complete- Lady Gay. I also heard part of Breakin' Up Christmas, but that's all.It came on one more time, looked like a duet with Kenny and Lanelle, but there was no sound or movement, then it went black again . I've never done this before and I possibly didn't have real good signal where I was. Plus it was through a phone. Maybe next time...

All these guys are wonderful musicians, and certainly among my favorites- I've seen them all many times in various configurations. I'm just not fully in the 21st century and may never get there! What little bit I saw was great.

Hi, Kenny here. Thanks so much to everyone who tuned in to watch the show on Concert Window - it was great having you here virtually! Judging by the clip, there was some issue with the audio - I hope to have that ironed out for the next one.

Kenny Jackson is a fiddler, banjoist, guitarist, singer, and tunesmith deeply rooted in old-time Southern Appalachian vernacular music. Not content to just re-enact the performances of the past, Kenny draws on the deep well of traditional music for his own inspired interpretations and original compositions, rendering the music anew with spirit, subtlety, and grace.

Since the mid-1980s, Kenny has been a part of several outstanding string bands including Leftwich, Higginbotham, and Jackson; The Rhythm Rats (with Paula Bradley and Whitt Mead), and Big Medicine (with Joe Newberry, Jim Collier, LaNelle Davis, and Bobb Head). Lately he has been making music with Erynn Marshall, Carl Jones, and Bobb Head in a new band known as the Bow Benders.

Kenny has appeared at numerous festivals including MerleFest, the Ulster-American Folk Park in Northern Ireland, the Winnipeg Folk Festival, the Wheatland Music Festival, and the Appalachian String Band Music Festival. He’s also appeared on broadcasts such as A Prairie Home Companion, ABC-TV’s Good Morning America, BBC-Belfast Radio, the Renfro Valley Barn Dance, and others. Add that to the many concerts, dances, and other venues where he’s played, and you get a picture of a seasoned performer.

Kenny can be heard on a number of recordings, including his self-produced solo albums The Shortest Day (2015) and Over the Mountain (2004); on three albums by Big Medicine, including Pine to Pine (2009), Fever in the South (2004) and Too Old to be Controlled (2002); and on I Believe I’ll Go Back Home (1997) and Pretty Crowing Chicken (1994), with the Rhythm Rats.
