Grace Pettis, from Lookout Mountain, Alabama, has songwriting in her blood. The daughter of a poetry scholar and a troubadour, Grace comes by her love of words honestly. Her father, Pierce Pettis, is a critically acclaimed songwriter and performer who penned the Garth Brooks hit "You Move Me." Both Grace's brothers Rayvon and George (100 Watt Horse) are songwriters and musicians.

In her short career, Grace has already lived up to her birthright, winning numerous songwriting awards (Kerrville New Folk Contest; NPR's Mountain Stage NewSong Contest, etc.) and garnering praise from critics, fans, and industry alike. What sets her apart in her talented family is her distinct, unaffected voice, described as a "wide open prairie, full of waving golden grains before menacing, dark thunder clouds" (Sirius XM Program Director, Mary Sue Twohy).

Grace's latest Kickstarter campaign has succeeded at 120% of its goal, with the help of 350 backers, raising over $24,000 towards the making of Grace’s third album, produced by Dan Barrett, of the Austin-based band,PorterDavis (exp. 2017 release ). While Grace has been busy making her own artistic mark on the world, other artists have slowly been discovering her songwriting. Grammy-nomnated Blues artist Ruthie Foster recently choose two Grace Pettis originals, "Good Sailor" and "Working Woman," for her latest release, Joy Comes Back (2017). Other artists who've recorded Grace's songs and co-writes include Sara Hickman, The Powell Brothers, Rayvon Pettis, and David Llewellyn & Ida Kirsten. Look for Grace Pettis co-writes on forthcoming releases from Jonathan Byrd and Brian Pounds as well.

The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation recently announced that Grace Pettis has been selected as a recipient of a Buddy Holly Foundation scholarship to attend the Chris Difford Songwriting Retreat at Glastonbury, England, June 2017. The invitation-only retreat allows young songwriters and performers the chance to write songs and perform together with world-famous musicians and producers. Noted musicians teaching at this year’s retreat include founder Chris Difford and Glenn Tillbrook of Squeeze, filmmaker and producer Dave Stewart of the Eurhythmics, and Gary Tallent, noted record producer and bassist with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
