This was a thoroughly charming experience. Singing into the camera of my laptop could have felt cold and alien, but frankly, all the chatter in the comment window was a constant visual reminder that the audience and I were, if I may go there, Sharing a Moment. When I forgot to say the name of a tune, within seconds someone had asked and someone else had answered. It's exactly right that these events are not archived, it lends a fleeting nature to the experience. Perhaps the best part was knowing that people in Argentina, Nashville, Chile, Montana, and many other places I do not regularly tour were able to enjoy the music, and a startling resonant 21st Century expression of community. I'll be doing this on a semi-regular basis from now on.
