CAITLIN EVANSON
VIOLINIST, VOCALIST, ARTIST & SONGWRITER
Caitlin Evanson is a classically trained violinist/vocalist who has most recently traveled the world playing violin and guitar and singing background vocals behind seven-time Grammy winning superstar Taylor Swift. With Swift’s tours, Evanson performs nightly for tens of thousands of fans in sold-out stadiums and arenas around the globe, demonstrating her versatility as an artist and a performer with six instrument and four costume changes over the course of each two-hour show.
In her seven years with Swift, Caitlin has performed live for millions of television viewers around the globe, playing violin and singing background vocals on dozens of high-profile shows. She counts among her many television credits the GRAMMY Awards, the European Music Awards, the American Music Awards, the Country Music Association Awards, the MTV Video Music Awards, Saturday Night Live, 60 Minutes, Good Morning
America, the Today Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Oprah Winfrey Show and The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Caitlin is a versatile vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who plays mandolin in addition to violin and rhythm electric and acoustic guitar. During her tenure with Swift, Caitlin has shared a stage with a number of high-profile artists, performing with Carly Simon, Stevie Nicks, James Taylor, Jennifer Lopez, John Mayer, Def Leppard, Usher, Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Sara Bareilles, Nelly, T.I., and Selena Gomez, to name but a few.
Prior to joining Swift in 2007, Caitlin toured and recorded with Ringo Starr, and before that was on the road and in the studio with Dave Stewart and also with Big & Rich. In addition, she has performed for the troops overseas as part of several USO Tours.
Caitlin began studying classical violin at the age of four in her native Seattle, Washington, and rose to Assistant Concert Master of her local youth symphony. Her life changed forever when, at the age of 13, she first heard Pearl Jam on the radio -- an electric violin and amp topped her Christmas list that year, and by her sophomore year Caitlin was fronting her own band. After her college years at Western Washington University, Caitlin moved to Nashville and soon began her career as a professional touring musician.
In addition to her work as a touring vocalist and musician, Caitlin writes and records her own music, and also records strings and vocals and writes songs for other artists (caitlinbirdmusic.com, cakepopmusic.com). When not busy with her music, Caitlin loves impressionist painting, rugged endurance hiking, and kayaking in her native Pacific Northwest.
