It was last fall when indie-folk duo Duck and Goose decided that, before they break up the band, they had better create something that told the story of who they had been. The two had devoted the better part of the past four years to their music, and had been transformed both personally and musically by the experience. So too however had it begun to hold them back. For various personal and professional reasons, it became clear that an end or a change of some kind was near. After months of planning, fundraising, staying up til 2:30 every night recording, obsessing over every detail, they are releasing Swan Song, an ode to the beauty on which they’ve spent the past four years of their lives. THIS is their CD release show, as well as their last show. Emily will be moving to Seattle five days later.

This album was produced by Sean O’Keefe (Plain White T’s, Fallout Boy, Company of Thieves) and Pat Sansone (Wilco, Autumn Defense). It was funded by a Kickstarter campaign in which they successfully raised $12,000 from friends, family, and fans. The album was lovingly and painstakingly made over the spring and summer of this year. They’ve put their heart and soul into it, and it is truly their best work to date.

Brought together by the winds of chance and fortune, Emily Claire Palmer and Charles Murphy began their career together playing at farmer’s markets in 2010. Both songwriters individually, they slowly grew their repertoire of originals and became known within the Chicago music scene for their vocal blend, potent lyrics, and warm performance style. Their first EP was recorded in live takes at Hinge Studio (Chicago, IL), and was released in June 2011.
