"My father was an avid music lover, and was usually humming, albeit off key. He had an extensive record collection that he listened to, and thereby exposed us (Manuel and her siblings), to everything from Roger Miller, Kris Kristofferson, Tom T. Hall, Fats Domino and Nat King Cole, to World Music, and musical soundtracks from South Pacific, Oklahoma, and Camelot. "My Mom's sister,Annette was a huge fan of country music; in particular Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Conway Twitty. My family was working class, and no one was encouraged to create, or be creative. Therefore, music gave us a way to unwind, relax and enjoy the creative efforts of others." Despite the siren's call at a very young age, it was not until Manuel moved to Nashville in January 2000, that she embraced her lifelong passion for music, and began songwriting in earnest.

Manuel has performed at numerous world famous venues, including Douglas Corner Cafe, Historic Roberts Hall, The Commodore Grille, and the legendary Bluebird Cafe, and is also one of a select few songwriters chosen by Emmy nominated director Stacey K. Black, to be filmed for the award winning documentary "Send My Mail to Nashville".

In addition to creating and performing music, Lydia enjoys numerous hobbies, which include photography, bird watching, reading, and refinishing vintage furniture. Despite being gregarious, she identifies largely as an introvert, and prefers spending a majority of her time in nature, exploring with her best buddy, Oreo the Wonder Dog.
