Sayla Dobro is the alter-ego of singer/songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Todd Tate.

Playing guitar since age 13, Todd saw Jerry Douglas of Allison Krauss and Union Station play in 2006, and shortly after wards received a gift from his Father; a sweet little Regal RD-35 Square Neck Dobro. Already having some experience on Lapsteel from his Blue Room Studios days in SF, Todd picked up quickly and started performing locally in Marin to enthusiastic bar goers in the band "The Deep Sound Of Bobby Peru".

The music you can sample on the Website was entirely performed by Todd Tate in one-take spur of the moment songwriting sessions during the period of 2006/2009. Instruments used were casio drums, casio synth bass, zydeco tie, shaker, hand claps, live snare, dobro, acoustic guitar, 3-stringed cuban tres guitar, electric bass, accordion, and voice. A vast catalog of songs have been written and now, Spring 2014, Todd is going into the studio with Ben Burney of Primitive Ears in the SF East Bay to tackle 7 songs in the vintage production style that Ben pursues with his vintage MCI 2" Analog Machine and array of Motown analog pre-amps.

Stay tuned for new music, until then enjoy the demos.
