With performances described as slowly waking from a dark-David Lynch-like dream, or Tom Waits on acid, to a blend of Nick Cave with Roxy music, The Slave Labourers are fast building a live reputation in and around Glasgow. The trio are an exotic blend of NZ/Scottish gentlemen who discovered their musical rapport playing the Celtic Connections Festival in 2012 and have been churning out strong swing-based drum rhythms, melodic basslines, sultry guitar motifs and dusty baritone vocals ever since.

Singer/Guitarist Dave Frazer heralds from Wellington, New Zealand, a former member of critically acclaimed alt/country band Cassette – whose accolades include performances with Sonic Youth, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Tall Dwarves, and Phoenix Foundation. Within the UK, Frazer has joined forces with the likes of Lawrence Arabia, supported outfits such as The Concretes, Connan Mockasin, Ruby Suns, Liam Finn, Beefhearts Magic Band and Baxter Dury and has also performed for Celtic Connections festival and Sofar Sounds.

Kenneth Wilson (bassist) and Jamie Simpson (Drums) are known players in the Glasgow improvisational scene, performing in Soundlab events at City Halls. When not caressingly emitting sub-frequencies with the Slave labourers – Kenneth also plays with folk revivalists Two Wings and is a touring bassist for Devon Sproule when in the UK.
