Karen Elstone, otherwise known as SopranoSister, grew up in west Toronto with a love for all things rock. While the classic rock hits played on the radio and vinyl, she dreamed of being a rock star. She did not pursue her dream until later in life, after deciding that strictly administrative work left her with a void. She went back to school to study voice at both Humber College and York University, where she earned an Honours Degree in Classical Voice. But rock and roll continued to be her real love. She is also influenced by the blues and folk. Inspirational musicians include Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, Heart, Joni Mitchell, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, The Pretenders and Melissa Etheridge.

She is now writing her own material, with some help from guitarist and musician Bill Conlon, who plays lead guitar on Karen's songs "Danger" and "Sticky Summer Air." Michael Ratt plays bass on "Cleanse Me," "Danger" and "Fantasy." Karen is mainly involved in music for the joy it gives to her and to use her artistic talents to their fullest.
