Kyle Tuttle is one of the most exciting progressive banjo players and teachers in the Acoustic Music scene today. He placed 2nd in the Walnut Valley Banjo and MerleFest Banjo Contests in 2012. Growing up around Folk and Bluegrass, he has a strong appreciation for traditional American music. In 2012, he was selected to participate in the Savannah Music festival’s Acoustic Music Seminar- a scholarship-based mentoring program with acoustic greats such as Mike Marshal, Chris Thile, Bela Fleck, and Edgar Meyer. Kyle worked for two years in a band called “Here’s to the Long Haul” that was very involved with the grass-roots movement against Mountaintop Removal Coal Mining in the Southeastern States. Kyle spent 2 years in Boston attending Berklee College of Music and performing regionally. While studying there he made strong connections with Tony Trischka, Bill Keith, Bela Fleck, John McGann, and David Newsam. After 2 years in school, Kyle relocated to Nashville, TN. He has made a name for himself in Music City by performing with Jim Lauderdale, Peter Rowan, Big & Rich, Rebecca Frazier, Jeff & Vida, and Chris Henry, just to name a few.

Kyle maintains an online teaching studio at KyleTuttle.com providing a very unique style of banjo instruction for advanced students. He also writes for The Banjo Newsletter.

Kyle is currently a member of Jenni Lyn & The Palmetto Bluegrass Band, as well as Frazier Band. Check their respective schedules to find him performing somewhere near you soon.
