Two of the greatest mandolinists in the world, each from very different musical backgrounds, have created one of the sweetest collaborations in the long and varied history of their chosen instrument.

Mike Marshall and Caterina Lichtenberg take you on a journey through the history of the mandolin as it made its way from 16th century Europe to the new world of the Americas, picking up strains of melodies from each new place and the many musical hands that it has touched. From Italy to the British Isles then to the Americas we now have mandolin traditions in Venezuela, Columbia and of course Brazil.

Mike and Caterina will present a musical journey of their instrument through all these different musical styles.

Mike Marshall has built musical bridges with mandolinists from around the world. From his early days with the David Grisman Quintet, to his founding of the Modern Mandolin Quartet, through now-famous recordings and performances with bluegrass whiz kid Chris Thile and Brazilian virtuoso Hamilton de Holanda, Mike has rejuvenated our sonic landscape by constructing original, illuminative creations as well as being one of the most important educators for the mandolin with hundreds of students working with him on his own online mandolin school.

German mandolinist Caterina Lichtenberg is considered one of the greatest classical mandolinists in the world today. She now holds the position of Professor of Mandolin and Director of the Baroque Ensemble at the Cologne University of Music, Wuppertal Campus. This may well be the only position of it's kind in the world today.

Now at the peak of her recording and performance career, with over 10 CD’s to her credit, dozens of published arrangements and new music written for her as well as two educational DVDs, Caterina maintains a regular schedule of concerts, teaching engagements and jury panels throughout the United States, Japan, Europe, and South America.

Caterina is a pure delight on stage, captivating and endearing audiences while delivering some of the most spectacular mandolin performances ever heard.

Whether it's old-time Bluegrass, Jazz, Brazilian, or Venuzuelan, the mandolin has been a part of these musical heritages.

Come listen to Caterina and Mike when they take you on a musical journey from the early roots of the mandolin to some of the most progressive and forward thinking music of our time.
