  • ameliarobinson: Hey everyone! We are here setting up for our CircleTime discussion with Marc Ribot about artists rights! Let us know if you can hear & see OK and if you have any Qs or comments - we'll try to incorporate them as we go along!
  • ameliarobinson: Hey welcome!
  • ameliarobinson: We are just waiting for people to arrive and get settled - hang tight!
  • ron-club tipped $1!
  • stephen-seifert: I often pine for the days before recordings were possible. It was all about the live events. If people wanted music, they either had to hire it done or make it themselves. Any chance we could outlaw electricity? (Just dreaming...)
  • stephen-seifert: The talk about why you don't see artist strikes or boycotts is very interesting. Is there a central location for learning about the stuff Marc is talking about? I've been a full-time touring musician for the last 20 years. Live in Nashville.
  • stephen-seifert: A website? A book? A blog?
  • stephen-seifert: Hi. lol
  • ameliarobinson: send us your contact www.c3action.org - they are coming to nashville and will send you info

Amelia Robinson is a musician, composer, educator, and entrepreneur who grew up in Brooklyn, New York with three siblings and immigrant parents from Australia and New Zealand. Trained in Suzuki for piano and voice, Amelia has appeared at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall with Marvin Hamlisch, BAM, Tribeca Film Festival, Symphony Space, on Broadway’s A Christmas Carol, the Intrepid, and with Sesame Street’s Gordon and Elmo. In the UK, Amelia has been featured on BBC Radio 1, awarded top 10 finalist for Jamie Oliver’s Big Feastival, and performed at the Pleasance Theatre’s Kidzone at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Amelia has worked alongside award winning British composer Michael Nyman and the London Symphony Orchestra. She composed and conducted a multi-media interactive orchestral piece called The Cycle Symphony, which incorporated an audience of 500 bicycle-bell playing participants. The Cycle Symphony premiered at the East End Film Festival and was applauded by Time Out London as their #1 Critic’s Choice.

Through her travels to Kazakhstan, Israel, Guatemala, Europe, the Asia Pacific, and while performing on an artificial island in Qatar, Amelia cultivated a deep appreciation for ethnomusicology and discovered the magic of the ukulele. She now produces Mil’s Trills, a children’s music project that invites families to celebrate the community through interactive performances featuring original tunes and a rotating cast of musical guests.

The Mil’s Trills debut album, Everyone Together Now!, invites children on a spirited adventure through the string, wind and brass families, with the help of 42 instruments including a blade of grass! Mil’s Trills deftly combines music from around the world, dipping into genres of urban funk, blues, honky tonk and calypso. Everyone Together Now! Is available on iTunes and CDBaby.

Amelia’s “grown-up” album is scheduled to release later this year.
