I'm biased cuz i know great talent - and she is. Songs voice guitar all wonderfully beautiful and music is healing to this listener. The artist is unaffected and shows who she is....charismatic and charming. Wish Courtney would've played more...but best to always 'leave them wanting more.' Liked the production - no frills, raw and altho not perfect...suited the intimate presentation of music. however, i cudn't hear the artist speaking all that well...or some of the words due to audio issues. tighten that up please for future. camera-work is all that it needed to be. thanks for providing this type of forum.

Loved seeing Courtney so relaxed and playing songs from her heart. I wish the sound quality was better on the guitar. The vocals seem to overpower the guitar volume. But, overall, we enjoyed it and hope she returns soon.

Guitarist Courtney Hartman is at the forefront of a new generation of acoustic musicians. A member of the phenomenal bluegrass quintent and Rounder recording artists, Della Mae, she has toured extensively throughout the US, Europe and South and Central Asia. She has won numerous guitar flatpicking championships and is currently studying on scholarship at Berklee College of Music. Matt Glaser, fiddle legend and chair of Berklee's American Roots Music program called Courtney, "an extraordinary bluegrass guitarist and a fluid inventive improvisrer... one of the finest musicians I have ever had the priviledge of working with." Jazz guitar virtuoso Julian Lage says of Courtney, "It has been a true priviledge to watch Courtney grow as a player. I feel that she is one of the great guitarists of our generation. Her greatness is born out of unconditional listening and a commitment to the meaning of the music in every song she plays. She doesn't play anything that isn't rooted in her love for the music."

A Colorado native and member of a large musical family, Courtney began her musical journey at age two, when she was taken to her first bluegrass festival. Courtney develped a deep passion for music and by the time she was ten, had begun to excel at violin, mandolin and guitar. As she progressed on guitar, she became very interested in other genres of music and writing, which lead her to Berklee College of Music. The acoustic music scene in Boston is arguably one of the best in the country at this time, and Courtney is right at the heart of it. She tours around the world, performing and teaching and is in demand with a variety of music projects including her band Della Mae as well as a spattering of duo collaborations with Joe Wash, Maeve Gilchrist and Sierra Hull.
