Melanie Dewey is a singer/songwriter hailing from Syracuse, New York. She describes her music as lyrically driven country, with a dash of alternative pop. Her tunes have been praised by David Garcia, writer of music blog “On Your Radar,” as “music that encompasses the sincere, storytelling nature of country music delivered with the catchiness and gusto typical of today’s top 40 hits.” Melanie has already shared the stage with established performers such as Maggie Rose, Teddy Geiger, and Quincy Mumford. People have often compared her to country stars Hunter Hayes, Taylor Swift, and Carrie Underwood, and chart topping artists Sara Barielles and Katy Perry.

Melanie’s debut album, “Between The Lines”, was released on April 22nd 2014. Bursting at the heartstrings, the album is filled with songs that tell tales of everything from war, to love in its most genuine state. Melanie looks at the album as a “storybook encompassing the last three years of her life, with each song representing a different lesson-learning chapter.” The album has already received positive reviews on iTunes, Amazon, and Google play. One review that sums up the work reads: “Thoroughly enjoyed this album. It has a great vibe, cool country twist, and amazing vocals. I gave it five stars.”

From the moment Melanie’s parents walked her down the stairs of their old town house in Ithaca, NY, only to surprise her with a brand new upright piano, she has been hooked on music. Whether she was performing in musicals, or singing opera at the Bel Canto institute in Florence, Italy, Melanie never lost touch with her true passion, and always wrote songs on the side. Melanie was a member of several bands before focusing on her solo project. Most prominently, in the summer of 2011, she was the singer, keyboard player and songwriter of jamtronica band, VaporEyes. The electronic quartet played various shows in upstate NY, and opened for popular jam bands Zoogma, and Brothers Past at The Westcott Theater in Syracuse, NY. In the summer of 2012, after leaving VaporEyes, Melanie’s original music scored her an opening spot at a Teddy Geiger concert in her hometown. More recently, In 2013, Melanie’s original song “Why We Cry” helped her climb to a top 12 finalist spot in the annual Bruce Hornsby Songwriter’s Showcase hosted in Miami, FL in 2013. With the same song, Melanie placed 7th out of thousands in the 2013-2014 Grammy U amplifier competition.

Following the release of her debut album, on top of having exclusive interviews in online Magazine’s such as Junior’s Cave, Skope Mag, and Backstage Vibe blog, Melanie has appeared on college radio stations up and down the East Coast. Some notable stations include WVUM The Voice in Miami, and SUNY Fredonia’s college radio station. On June 30th, she was interviewed on News Channel Nine’s Bridge Street, where she ended the segment with a live performance of her song “Love This Life.” Melanie appeared on The Real Radio Show in June, hosted by radio personalities Frankie Dee, Henry K, and Mark Mendoza of Twisted Sister. She also appeared on the Sunday night “Featured Artist” segment of Syracuse’s Commercial Country radio station, B104.7. Her year in press was tied together by a nod on Wine Cowboy’s music blog, as one of his exclusive featured albums for July.

Melanie completed a post graduation tour in May with her friend and fellow songwriter, Megan Talay, which included stops in major cities such as Philadelphia, New York, Jacksonville, Washington, D.C., Syracuse, and Ithaca. In June and July, Melanie put together a solo summer album release tour, focused in Syracuse, but branching as far as Ogunquit, Maine where she was given the honor to open for country music star, Maggie Rose. Now residing in Nashville, TN, she has a lot of projects coming up in the future! Melanie has always had a love for music of all genres, and a drive towards making a positive footprint in the world with her art. Something she lives by? “Life is short, live it singing!”
