Kaliné is a Nigerian soul singer, songwriter, pianist and film composer. She fuses soul, funk and world music to create an authentic, alternative sound.

Born into a musical family, Kaliné spent the early part of her childhood in Nigeria. At the age of 13, after several years of classical training in piano and violin, (beginning at the ages of 5 and 8 respectively), she was awarded with a music scholarship to Queenswood School in the United Kingdom. It was at Queenswood that Kaliné developed a serious interest in singing and she enrolled for classical vocal coaching. As a soloist, she toured with the Queenswood Singers in Prague, Vienna, Budapest and Rome. With her growth as a songwriter, Kaliné won 1st prize in May 2004 and May 2006 in the Tamezin International Singer-songwriter Competition, UK.

Kaline graduated with a BSc in Applied Business Management from Imperial College London (2009), and then followed her dream by gaining admission to the prestigious Berklee College of Music. At Berklee she gained 1st place in the prestigious ‘Songwriting for Social Change’ competition, in which she performed her original composition “Stand and Fight” which highlighted her passion for the empowerment of women. She recently wrote a song to create more awareness of the tragic abduction of 200+ girls in Nigeria called “Bring Them Home”.

In August 2013 Kaline graduated from Berklee with a BA in Film Scoring. One of her songs (co-written and produced by renowned producer, Cobhams Asuquo) “Falling for you,” recently featured in the internationally acclaimed Nollywood movie, “Flower Girl”.
Among several performance opportunities, Kaliné performed her arrangement of the Nigerian National Anthem at the 2012 United Nations World Tourism Organisation Conference, performed at the 2012 Lagos Jazz Festival where she opened for Bob James and Fourplay. She was the Supporting Act for Chaka Khan and Angélique Kidjo at the annual SmoothFM Luxury Concert, 2013.

Performance and songwriting are at the core of Kaline’s musicianship, and in 2013 she introduced the ‘justKaliné concert series’ – an intimate/acoustic concert series that showcases a healthy number of her original songs. She has had 3 editions so far; 2 in Lagos, and 1 in Boston. A percentage of the proceeds from this series is donated to a charity of her choice.

On Valentine’s Day, 2014 Kaline released her first single on iTunes, ‘Ololufemi’ and its accompanying video in April. Currently based in New York, she is working on her highly anticipated EP as well as performing in and around the East Coast.
