Outstandingly beautiful voice, impressive repertoire and so sensitively accompanied by the delicate and skilful playing of Hajimi....but ain't she pretty! We look forward to the first CD of many.

BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician of the Year, Robyn Stapleton graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a First Class Honours degree in Scottish Music. There she specialised in Scots Song under the guidance of Rod Paterson and Gordeanna McCulloch. During her degree, Robyn spent one year at the Irish World Academy, Limerick, where she was fortunate to be tutored in Irish song by Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh.

Hajime Takahashi, an exceptional young guitarist and banjo player, recently graduated from the Irish World Academy in Limerick; it was there that he and Robyn began performing together. Hajime has been taught by some of the most respected musicians in traditional music – namely Chris Newman, John Carty, Ian Stephenson and Steve Cooney. With performances in his native Japan and across Europe, Hajime is building a strong reputation internationally.

Since they met in 2011, Robyn & Hajime have been performing together in the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia. A recent highlight was performing with Stephen Heffernan at the 40th Anniversary of Girvan Folk Festival and on BBC Alba’s series, ‘Taghadh bho na Trads’.

Robyn & Hajime are looking forward to performances at festivals and concerts throughout the UK and recording an album in the year ahead.
