I believe this concert could have been a tad better experience if a few things had been a bit different....when the band members were speaking, the volume on the mics was very low....also, sam's mic almost seemed as if it wasn't on when he talked OR sang....we couldn't do anything about the horrid electrical storm that might have been the reason for the show stopping and having to start again.......This was a first for the band and most of us in the "audience", so some things were not clear...i couldn't understand why i couldn't see or hear the show, because concert window says it could be a free show....however, even if you pay $1, you HAD to pay something (if i had money guys, i'd "give it all away" to you)...that should have been made more clear...i would suggest that there are guidelines for first time users !! otherwise, it was a fun concept and i made a new friend...she discovered you on CoffeeHouse and she lives in NYC...i suggested Arlene's Grocery to her and she will try to make it ! we are emailing now !! Love you guys....Patty

I am officially a fan. I stumbled upon My Plasic Sun playing a concert at Bernunzio Uptown Music, a fabulous vintage instrument shop in Rochester, and was blown away. Glad I stumbled again to find them on Concert Window. Their songs are lyrically and musically interesting. The lead singer's voice (Johnny?) is clear, outfront and really good. Love Overhand Sam and that hard-working drummer keeping it all going. If this band doesn't break through to a bigger audience...life is way not fair.

Bio

My Plastic Sun is a new band with a sound that is lush and ambient yet immensely powerful. Major indie blogs have been comparing them to Radiohead, Coldplay, Beach House…and the Beatles. A sample of some of the reviewers and bloggers recent comments:

“Cummings’ vocals sound like the voice of Coldplay and Radiohead’s indie baby lovechild.” Indie Shuffle

“Where many bands have a great press team but no tunes to back up the hype, My Plastic Sun are pretty much the exact opposite. Given that, it’s great to see them getting more and more attention, and they deserve every bit of it.” ListenBeforeYouBuy

“The band have a sense of rock ‘n’ roll tenderness that recalls Blur circa 1999 and dare-I-say The Beatles. Don’t believe me? Listen for yourself.” UK’s GivePopAChance

My Plastic Sun…pretty unknown…pretty much something going on here. BitCandy

“This release is the product of musicians with stratospheric levels of talent creating spectacular melodies colored with gorgeous layering, pop sensibilities and immediately memorable lyrics.” UpstateLive

The members of My Plastic Sun are an eclectic group of musicians. The band’s bassist, Kyle Vock, is a recent graduate of the Masters Program in Jazz Bass Performance from the Eastman School of Music, and is fluent on electric and upright bass in both classical and jazz music. Drummer Roy Stein a Music Business professor and J.D. (Doctor of Law) started his career in the early days of punk rock and vividly remembers what it was like to have eggs pelted at the band by the “traditional rockers” who resented the new style – and the huge crowds the band drew. 22-year-old guitarist, Sam Snyder, plays in an unorthodox overhand style, hence the nickname, “Overhand Sam.” Lead singer/keyboardist/guitarist/ukulele/trumpet player, Johnny Cummings, has perfect pitch and can play hundreds of songs from the 30’s to present day by request on either piano or guitar.

The band is currently engaged on multiple fronts playing numerous live shows while also spending time in the recording studio finishing off their first full length CD. 2014 is gonna be a very busy and promising year for My Plastic Sun. One of the band’s songs was just placed in a major indie film, “Guten Tag Ramon” and several of the band’s songs will be featured in the new series, “Tainted Dreams”.
