eyes cast down is Greg Moorcroft, a Chicago-resident ambient/atmospheric composer and musician. Using guitars, synths, singing bowls, percussion, voices, samples and more, he leads listeners on a meditative, mesmerizing journey through ecstatic depths and heartfelt mysteries, toward… something infinite.

Greg, a musician for most of his life, began exploring this particular musical territory in the early 2000s, under the influence of some of its leading figures: Steve Roach, Robert Rich, vidnaObmana (Dirk Serries), Brian Eno, Jeff Pearce and Robert Fripp.

Greg’s first album, The Separate Ones, was released in February 2013 to rousing critical acclaim, and was cited as a Significant 2013 Release by Star’s End. Album tracks have been played on over 15 radio stations, streaming programs and podcasts, including Hearts of Space, Star’s End, SomaFM, StillStream, Sequences, Alien Air Music, and Ultima Thule.

Divinations, released in June 2014, features five pure atmospheric pieces, created mostly on synths, which are especially suitable for meditation, relaxation, and wellness spaces of all kinds. Memory Palace, an intense rhythmic-ambient duo with synthesist Chris Russell, was released in December 2014.

Music by eyes cast down appears on 11 compilation albums, the latest of which are CRL Studios’ Power Beyond Fathom, Relaxed Machinery’s reBOOT, and Waiting World’s Shine Like the Stars.

Live performances include concerts, workshops, festivals, living room performances, art shows, and a unique concept: Music for Workspaces, an all-day atmospheric music environment designed for the lobby of an office building, hotel or other suitable location.

Depending on the space available, eyes cast down can perform with a full or partial concert rig, or with a laptop using software synths & samples, in an exciting, spontaneous form of composition.

Greg publishes a blog which includes his writings on music, album reviews, poems, a moving posthumous profile of ambient artist Lucette Bourdin, and an exhilarating 2011 interview with Steve Roach.
