Deanie and Melissa obviously share a love of making music together, and a deep friendship. This is very evident in their playing, and last night's webcast was a wonderful forum for their talents. From Texas fiddling to hymnals to Celtic airs, they moved effortlessly through a delightful program. My only complaint was that it wasn't TWO hours long. Brava, my friends! ❤️

Deanie and Melissa were fantastic. Their music is wonderful, and it is so much fun to see two really amazing musicians playing together who also genuinely enjoy each other as people! They rocked it out on some songs and also played some poignant, moving ones - so the evening really took the audience along to some emotional heights and depths. This was a fantastic way to spend a Friday evening, and I so hope they do this again soon! Woohoo!

Deanie Richardson (fiddle) and Melissa DuPuy (guitar, banjo) perform music from old-time to swing and everything in between. Whether it’s a haunting, modal melody or a foot stompin’ Texas-style fiddle tune, this Nashville duo is sure to broaden your scope of traditional acoustic music.

Making her debut appearance on the Grand Ole Opry at the tender age of 13, Deanie Richardson took the stage and never looked back. Once the bow touches the strings of her 1880 Collin-Mezin (Deanie’s weapon of choice) you understand why she is known as one of country and bluegrass music’s most revered fiddle players. A 2010 Academy of Country Music nominee for Fiddle Player of the Year, Deanie has shared the stage and/or recording studio with such artists as Vince Gill, Patty Loveless, Bob Seger, The Chieftains, Dale Ann Bradley, Emmy Lou Harris, Ry Cooder, David Olney, Hank Williams Jr, TheDel McCoury Band, and Marty Stuart, to name a few.

A native of South Carolina, Melissa DuPuy is a multi-instrumentalist who has performed with such folk legends as Doc Watson, Bill Monroe, “Snuffy” Jenkins, and John Hartford, and in 2007 she was commissioned to arrange and perform two Celtic arrangements with the Nashville Symphony. As a recording engineer and session musician, she produces and performs on a variety of recording projects and serves as a consultant for the performance and study of traditional American music. Melissa is an Artist in Residence with the Tennessee Arts Commission and a program consultant for the National Museum of African American Music.

So tune in and hang on…and don’t forget to throw a few tips in the “hat”.
