Barry Komitor was great. I loved his original music and Hank Williams songs the best. He is a true talent with a very promising future.

Barry Lee Komitor is a songwriter, singer and guitarist based in New York City. He is also a bass player in a reggae band, a bluegrass musician, and the arts education director for Art for Progress, a non profit organization which provides art and music education programs in New York City's public schools.
Komitor is a native Brooklynite, but grew up primarily in suburban New Jersey, attending college in Vermont at Middlebury. While traveling in Europe for school, he was exposed to street culture and the way music and musicians brought people together, dissolving social barriers. It was toward the end of his time in Vermont that he began to consider pursuing music seriously.
After college, he spent ten years in California playing and studying music and the many ways it is made, including a course of study in Jazz improvisation and arrangement at Cabrillo College. He also immersed himself in the west coast lifestyle, developing a broader perspective on the ways the world works. As a result, Komitor became involved in political activism, participating in several direct actions protesting nuclear testing and advocating for environmental sustainability. He and some fellow musicians built a recording studio in Santa Cruz, California and had the opportunity to work with Buddy Miles and members of the Doobie Brothers among others. It was here he honed his skills at the craft of recording and producing music. Since returning to the New York area, Komitor has been involved in nearly every facet of the music making process, including writing, performing, recording, live mixing, production, film and television scoring and promotion. Currently, his primary focus is his original American Roots band The Barry Lee Komitor Band, and teaching high school students how to overcome their inhibitions and learn to play and make the music the hear inside of themselves.
