Brooklyn-based bluegrass musician Elio Schiavo will head into New York’s prestigious Magic Shop recording studio on Jan 22nd 2014 with Grammy-nominated mandolinist and producer Matt Flinner to record his first solo bluegrass album, After The Fall.

In 2007, Schiavo started the New York-based original bluegrass band The Six Deadly Venoms who went on to release two albums, most recently The Lucky and The Losers.

In addition to serving as the principal songwriter, mandolinist, and manager for the group, Schiavo produced, recorded, mixed, and released the two albums. The group toured nationally for four years and most recent highlights include a standout performance at the 2013 Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival as well as being named a finalist in the 2013 Fresh Grass awards.

After years of playing in the exploding underground New York bluegrass scene, Elio Schiavo is a central figure in what has become a hub for a new and unique brand of roots music attracting many of the best players from around the county.

For his new album, After the Fall, Schiavo has enlisted A-list players Brittany Haas (Crooked Still), Ross Martin (Matt Flinner Trio), Billy Cardine (Edgar Meyer, Jerry Douglas) Sam Grisman (David Grisman, The Deadly Gentlemen), James Genus (Saturday Night Live Band, Herbie Hancock), and many more to bring his unique vision to life.

The album is slated for release in May of 2014 and a US tour will follow this summer.
