The opening act, which included 12-year old Hattie Craven stole the show. She has a fabulous voice and poise for an up and comer.

Thank you Concert Window, for being my window to shows like Kathy Kallick. This band is a constant great pleasure to see, for many years now. If I lived in the Bay Area, I would have been there, but I don't, so you give me the opportunity to see and contribute to bands that I love. What a pleasure it was last night, and what a constant good thing you are providing to people who live far from any music venues.

“This is a top-notch band lead by a woman with the warmest, richest voice in our music today.” - Katy Daley, WAMU’s Bluegrass Country

“This is a top-notch band lead by a woman with the warmest, richest voice in our music today.” - Katy Daley, WAMU’s Bluegrass Country

The Kathy Kallick Band has had a fabulous 2013 -- including a hit album/song, cover story in Bluegrass Unlimited, and some great festivals (Rocky Grass, the fire-postponed Strawberry, Pickin' In the Pines, High Mountain Hay Fever, IBMA showcases, etc.) and concerts. -- and they're already scheduled to play WinterGrass and the CBA Father's Day Festival in 2014.

"Time" -- the album and the song -- is the hit. It's the 17th album released by Kathy, recordings which include over 100 of her compositions. Its mixture of original and classic material mirrors the distinctive combination of traditional and contemporary sensibilities that has come to define the Kathy Kallick Band.

2013 has been an exceptional year for a musician with an exceptional career. Kathy has won a Grammy and two IBMA Awards for her part on "True Life Blues: The Songs Of Bill Monroe," received a Lifetime Membership from the California Bluegrass Association, had five title tracks and albums each spend a year in the upper echelon of the national bluegrass charts, and collaborated with the country’s top acoustic musicians – including her mighty band: Annie Staninec (fiddle, vocals), Cary Black (acoustic bass, vocals), Greg Booth (dobro, banjo, vocals), and Tom Bekeny (mandolin, vocals).

"The Kathy Kallick Band's latest album, 'Time,' is an endlessly pleasing collection that perfectly splits the difference between new and old. New Kathy Kallick songs like the exquisite title track fit beautifully alongside classics - and how great to see some vintage California content in the mix! Always solid and entertaining, Kathy and her colleagues have really outdone themselves this, er, time!" - Jon Weisberger, Blue Side Of Town (Sirius XM)

Led by one of the music’s extraordinary composers and vocalists, the Kathy Kallick Band has nearly as much fun as the audience when performing. The material is compelling, the tone ranges from humorous to bittersweet to soulful, the instrumental playing is electric, the vocals luminous, the presentation inclusive. As was once said about another California band: They're not just the best at what they do; they're the only ones who do what they do.
