Born and raised in Philadelphia, the youngest of nine, Jeanette took to timesharing her siblings’ guitars. She had the great fortune of being influenced by several generations of musical tastes living in the house at the same time. Her mother's love of C&W and musicals, her Father's love of big band music, her siblings listening to everything from Motown, to Dan Fogelberg, Yes, Led Zeppelin to John Denver. Her high school orchestra instrument, the double bass, led her to Temple University, where she studied with Henry Scott, bassist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, and earned a Bachelor’s of Music in Performance. She currently plays with Main Line Symphony Orchestra.

Her recent marriage to her husband, Rich DeAngelis, came with a baby grand, recording equipment, and a “never say die” attitude. This album is a result of combining the households of two musical minds: “I’ve written songs all along,” Jeanette says, “but once I had a piano available to me 24/7 and a partner in crime, the songs just poured out.”

Chasing Happy, Jeanette's debut album, was soon released. Jeanette found some of her inspiration in other artists’ work. Marie Lauré is based on the heroine of Anthony Doerr’s book, All the Light We Cannot See. Kensington Blues was inspired by Jeffrey Stockbridge’s photo journal documenting opioid addiction in the Kensington neighborhood where Jeanette was born and raised. I Am Yours was inspired by the movie Becoming Jane.
Her live performances will make you laugh, cry and everything in between. Her ability to connect with her audience is a product of her authenticity and emotionally raw lyrics.

Lisa Jeanette’s songwriting influences include Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Elton John, Harry Chapin, Cat Stevens, Fleetwood Mac, and Genesis. This debut album is a testament that Chasing Happy can turn to simply enjoying happiness wherever it leads.
