Pace was great. At first could not see both your hands but you adjusted. Nice job. - Jill Weaver

Fine roots music, well-performed. As with many in-house concerts, the sound left something to be desired.

Wonderful concert in a unique venue, thoroughly enjoyed every minute and millisecond!

I think the uniquenes of the technology over shadows the music for me. I very much enjoyed the music. The simpleness of the setting, the pureness of the performance stands out in a mass culture world of performance art.

Emily Schaad has been playing and teaching music for nearly her whole life. With a background in classical music and public school music education, she went to North Carolina to learn from well-known fiddle masters and pursue Appalachian studies. She is known for a complex and powerful old-time fiddling style, and has taken first place in numerous stringband and fiddle contests, including the Appalachian Stringband Festival in Clifftop, WV. Emily currently performs with old-time stringband Blue Ridge Broadcasters, conducts youth orchestras in NC and SC, teaches fiddle and violin, and is working (slowly) toward a doctorate in music education.
