Great tunes! and such a good idea for a benefit concert, low overhead for maximum impact.

Excellent. The lift, when the two of them play together? Well it just doesn't get any better than that.

Picking up the fiddle in his mid-teens, Armand learned from renowned Irish musicians Jimmy Devine and Patrick Hutchinson, who helped foster an interest in the lyrical and colorful styles of older musicians such as Denis Murphy & Julia Clifford, Bobby Casey, Johnny Doherty, and Pat Mitchell. In addition to being the 2010 Mid-Atlantic Fleadh Cheoil Champion for Senior Fiddle, Armand was also one of 15 fiddle players, chosen world-wide, to compete in the Séan Ó Riada Gold Medal Fiddle Competition held in Cork, Ireland in 2011. Having previously studied at the Berklee College of Music and the North Bennet Street School, he is currently based in Providence, Rhode Island where he is working to establish himself as a violin maker.

Patrick Hutchinson was born in Canada but grew up in Liverpool where he had his first lessons on the tin whistle. A student of the well-loved Toronto piper and teacher Chris Langan, he has been playing the uilleann pipes for over 30 years (when the reeds were going well at least). Patrick is well known for his unique settings, and for ferreting out unusual tunes.

He recorded with Oliver Schroer and Loreena McKennit among others, did a Ph.D in ethnomusicology at Brown in order to write about his teacher, teaches pipes for Comhaltas in Boston, and won an All-Ireland title in Uilleann Pipes Slow Airs, which he is happy to report has now been won in turn by one of his students, Torrin Ryan, 21 years later.

He and Armand have been playing together for nigh on ten years.
