Danielle Howle's musical journey over the past 25+ years has been one with many paths and plenty of exploration. Punk, jazz, rock, folk, country, Americana; Danielle has left no musical stone unturned.

Her wealth of musical knowledge, brilliant compositions full of poignant lyrical poetry, and decades of fearless trailblazing for music in South Carolina and beyond have led her to her latest endeavor, Danielle Howle + Firework Show.

Along with guitarist Zach Bodtorf (Yr Lad, Firework Show), bassist Sean Kelly (A Fragile Tomorrow, Finnegan Bell), and drummer Josh Kean (All Get Out, Finnegan Bell), Danielle has re-emerged with what can only be described as a musical force to be reckoned with. Combining haunting melodies with dynamic arrangements, hints of world rhythms, and swampy Americana guitar work, DH + FWS have carved out a unique place for themselves in the musical world. Driving rhythm section and innovative guitar playing aside, one thing can't be denied; this band is unmistakably Howle.

Songs like "How Do You Want To Go?" and "Hawk Back" prove that Danielle's signature blend of soft-spoken vulnerability and intense, guttural outbursts are not only as prominent as ever but are also presented in perhaps their truest and most exciting form since she began her illustrious career.

There's a reason that the New York Times has praised Howle as "an extraordinary mind" and "one to be treasured." Her larger-than-life voice is an undeniable force of nature that has captivated audiences since her days with Columbia, SC punk outfit Lay Quiet Awhile. Since those early years, Danielle’s extensive catalog has been released independently and on several household names of the American independent label scene: Kill Rock Stars, Daemon Records, Sub Pop and Simple Machines: to name a few.

During her tenure as a musician, she has backed, and been backed up by, musicians whose presence is clear when walking through the Rock and Country Music Halls of Fame. Where is our Americana Hall of Fame? Danielle would surely be one of the first initiates. Bob Dylan, The Indigo Girls, Steve Earl, Gillian Welch, Sam Bush, Peter Holsapple, Shawn Mullins, Ani DiFranco, Sara Lee Guthrie/Johnny Irion, Darius Rucker/Hootie and the Blowfish, and Edwin McCain are just a few of the musicians with whom she’s played. In fact, they’d probably all tell you she taught them a lesson or two.

Danielle has become a musical troubadour and is the toast of folk communities all over the United States. Her creativity has helped to inspire other artists in cultivating and refining their own styles. Ani Difranco offers, “She is an effortlessly powerful singer and a melodically nimble being.”
