“One of the great personalities in contemporary folk music.” -- The New York Times

In a career that spans five decades, 23 albums and three Grammy awards, the multi-talented singer-songwriter-guitarist Tom Chapin has covered an incredible amount of creative ground. In addition to his work as a recording artist and concert performer, Chapin has acted on Broadway, as well as working extensively in television, radio and film.

As a music-maker, Chapin has maintained two long and productive parallel careers, both as a respected contemporary folk artist and as a pioneer in the field of children's music. Tom’s adult concerts feature strong, intelligent songwriting with clear, engaging vocals and the intricate, melodic guitar work that has become his trademark. Chapin's infectious songcraft, sterling musicianship and personal warmth consistently shine through, whether he's performing on record or in a concert hall, an outdoor festival, a school, in front of a symphony orchestra or in an intimate coffeehouse.

He’s sure to include old favorites and songs from his latest CD’s: “Let The Bad Times Roll,” a collection of thought-provoking songs that hold up a mirror to our times, and the award-winning “The Incredible Flexible You,” a groundbreaking CD which helps young listeners navigate the tricky waters of social interaction. He’s likely to debut newly penned songs from his upcoming adult CD, yet untitled, due out in March.

“A masterful performer.” -- Ron Olesko, host, Traditions WFDU-FM

In addition to his musical and media endeavors, Chapin is a tireless advocate on behalf of a variety of charitable organizations. He is on the Board of Directors of WhyHunger, a hunger organization founded in 1975 by Tom’s late brother, singer / songwriter / humanitarian Harry Chapin. Tom remains active in a variety of environmental causes, as well as efforts on behalf of music and the arts in our public schools.
