Charlottesville, Virginia native Carl Anderson tells stories that speak of truth- the sadness, yearning, hope, and hardness of life. He now lives in Nashville, Tennessee, and often performs as a duo alongside his wife Ellen. The couple unassumingly puts on an intimate, sincere live experience, and if you stick around after a show, you'll end up getting at least one hug from Carl himself. Carl's a laid-back, straight-talking hilarious guy; somehow he has you crying from heartbreaking songs one second and then laughing at incredibly dry banter the next...it's an emotional roller coaster, in a good way. His simple yet evocative songs are filled with honest lyrics and resonant vocals that leave the listener with an understanding of the wholeness of a broken heart. With a rich baritone that’s a mix of honey and gravel, it’s easy to get lost in his set and leave the club on top a teary-eyed, content cloud.

Since graduating from high school, Carl has been writing, performing and recording music. He released his debut full-length album, Wolftown, in 2011, and recently completed the sophomore LP Risk of Loss; both albums were recorded in Louisa County, Virginia, at White Star Sound with Stewart Myers and Chris Keup. Carl has quickly become a staple at Virginia festivals, logging two appearances each at Campout East and The Festy Experience in addition to Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion, Misty Mountain Music Fest, Red Wing Roots, Rocktown Beer & Music Festival and Crozet Music Festival. He was selected as a finalist for Telluride Bluegrass Festival’s “Telluride Troubadour” songwriting contest and thereafter recorded a Daytrotter session.

Carl wants to get to know you as much as (if not more than) you want to get to know him, so please, join the mailing list, follow him on social media, and come say hi at a show.
