Grannis Bea is Anna Atkinson, voice and synth, RJ Satchithananthan, trombone and bass, and Mackenzie Longpre, drums.

Anna Atkinson is a singer, actor, instrumentalist, and writer currently based in Toronto. Since graduating as a violist from the University of Victoria department of music in 2008, she has, both as a live performer and as a highly regarded session player, contributed to dozens of projects, including Peter Gabriel, Belle and Sebastian, Josh Groban, Tucker Finn, Andrew Downing, Chloe Charles, Saidah Baba Talibah, and Laila Biali.

In June 2011, she released Mooniture, her debut CD recorded with producer Brent Bodrug, to critical acclaim. It was featured on the Toronto Star's Anti-Hit List, and continues to receive frequent play on CBC radio, in particular The Signal and As It Happens. At the end of 2011 Atkinson signed with Aporia records for the re-release of Mooniture (with an additional track recorded by Andrew Penner of The Sunparlour Players) in October 2012.

“The next time listening to one more earnest song set to guitar, keyboard and a bordering-on-anonymous rhythm section begins to feel like taking medicine, consider this a potent chaser. This Toronto-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist (viola, violin, Wurlitzer piano) is the least earthbound artist we’ve heard in ages: fanciful lyrics, soaring vocals, and the only rhythm section within earshot is your own heartbeat.”
--John Sakamoto, Toronto Star

Since 2010 Atkinson has been a member of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. She was a featured performer on stage as a violinist and accordionist in that season's revival of Jacques Brel Is Alive And Well And Living In Paris, and in 2011 was a contributing composer and performer on stage in The Grapes of Wrath. She has received two Guthrie Awards from the festival in support of her songwriting, in addition to a previous Ontario Arts Council grant.

In January of 2012, with the assistance of FACTOR, Atkinson showcased at MIDEM, as part of a brief European trip to solicit interest from presenters. Her performance was featured in official media.

In November of this year, she will be contributing her talents to BOBLO, a theatre experience that combines a rock concert with a ghost story to explore the evanescent nature of memory. Written by Erin Brandenburg and Andrew Penner, and directed by Steve McCarthy, the leader of the theatrical rock extravaganza The ElastoCitizens, and the award winning Bliss, it will also feature the talents of Rebecca Picherack (The Golden Dragon, Ruined), Elysha Poirier (Seeds) and Jung-Hye Kim (Middle Place, If We Were Birds.)

She currently plays, in addition to viola and violin, banjo, guitar, piano, accordion, saw, and ukulele.
