Love this group. This was a great showcase performance for them. Especially delighted with the unique sound from the combination of instruments. Hope they do more online to reach a larger audience who will love them as i do. Betty

Donna Frost is known as the Road Warrior Queen. Since her days singing and touring the world with Skeeter Davis, she has traveled across the USA with a guitar and a huge voice, playing in clubs, pubs, festivals and coffee shops from Florida to Michigan, from Atlantic coast to the American Midwest. Last February, after a long day on the set of the TV show "Nashville", she walked out into a dark, ice-sheeted parking lot, slipped and snapped her left arm in two places. The doctors warned her she might not play again, then changed it to a year, or a remote possibility of shorter.

They really didn't quite understand Donna.

Three days after the accident, she picked up her ukulele and tried to strum. That lasted about 7 minutes. The next day, a little longer. The day after that, she wrote a song about her accident. The beat goes on...

Playing the uke became part of her physical therapy - and it also produced some good new songs, one of which (Songbird) she posted on Facebook. Her long time friend, Bob Tigert, heard it, pulled out his acoustic bass, and came up with a part.

Within 2 weeks, they got together and ran some tunes... for a couple of wonderful hours. Two weeks later, they did a set at a local club, and got a terrific response from a slightly amazed crowd who clapped and sang along. By the way, the doctors were NOT in the audience.

Within 6 weeks, Tigert had her in the studio, laying down tracks with an eclectic collection of instrumentalists and singers, and "Ukeabilly Mama" by Donna Frost and the Ukeabilly Upstarts was released in August 2014.

And the live performances have been greeted enthusiastically, no matter what size the venue. Mostly, people describe these onstage parties with words like "happy" and "smile" and "feel good music."

"That works for us!" commented Donna, "'Cause it makes us feel good to play it."
