  • gloie416: great now the audience is suddenly there
  • gloie416: Is the concert over? No one is leaving.
  • SC: got an email from concert window that the concert (broadcast?) was cancelled
  • gloie416: It's back now. There were problems with it so maybe we won't get charged but it's great now.
  • SC: still intermittent here and I'm on fiber
  • gloie416: It suddenly popped back on at 9
  • SC: so it seems like a feed problem
  • gloie416: for a while we only saw the audience and the lights were on so I was confused about whether it was over.
  • SC: must have been an intermission
  • gloie416: when they came back on they kept talking about some big surprise for Doris but I never found out what it was. Maybe Tom Paxton?
  • SC: that's my guess. he wasn't listed on the playbill
  • SC: applause so loud, music so quiet
  • gloie416: Oh the music is sounding better to me than it did all night. Keep in mind I only heard about 15 minutes before it left.
  • SC: still "tin-y" from using iPhone mic rather than tieing into the audio system
  • gloie416: Right now I'm only disappointing in the video. Even if they wanted the whole stage, they could have zoomed in a little.
  • SC: according to something dave-rowe said earlier, the iPhone app doesn't allow zoming in
  • gloie416: then how about standing closer?
  • SC: duh! they probably have a set position in the auditorium for video equipment - behind the audience at the back
  • gloie416: Did you happen to see the concert with only Sean and Doris in a house about a year ago? It was really great and they were reading the comments between songs and taking requests.
  • SC: and the comments below seem to indicate that the feed dropped out then too
  • SC: oh - that's for tonite's concert
  • SC: this app needs work
  • SC: I can't believe WFMA signed up for this
  • gloie416: why is the color all washed out?
  • SC: because the iPhone camera is trying to compensate for the large amount of black
  • gloie416: the picture came back on at the end of the intermission and I think Sean has on a turquoise shirt.
  • SC: I can't tell a thing about what anyone is wearing except Doris - a dark dress
  • SC: i guess when the house lights were up during the intermission the video might have been better
  • gloie416: yes everything looked good at intermission. I'd left the room to watch t.v. about 8:30 and stopped back at 9 to see if anything happened. At first there was nothing there and suddenly the audience popped up
  • gloie416: now there's talking that shouldn't be there
  • SC: it's that app again and mic placement!
  • SC: if you put the mic in the middle of the audience, you're going to hear them
  • SC: how many here now?
  • gloie416: 11
  • SC: I took a break for my thematic pizza (hawaiian) at 8:20 and came back an hour later
  • SC: whoa... getting sea sick
  • SC: now we're getting closer!
  • gloie416: I'm getting dizzy
  • SC: shoulda done that about 2 hours ago!!!
  • gloie416: yes
  • SC: almost lost my pizza! :-)
  • SC: STOP MOVING THE CAMERA!
  • gloie416: nice bar stool but I'd rather see Doris and Sean
  • gloie416: I saw them live at Baldwin Station in Sykesville. That was good except everything was late.
  • SC: anyone recognize who is on stage ?
  • SC: I recognize Bill Danoff, Paxton, chad
  • gloie416 tipped $2!
  • gloie416: bye
  • SC: the end

I didn't get to have a favorite thing because we all lost the stream about 15 minutes into the concert.

intermittent feed, tin-y sound, small picture
    • Sep 26
The streaming came back on at the end of the intermission. You sound great now. I'm sorry I missed most of the first half.

I lost the picture at the beginning of the first half. I closed it out after that. I hope that Concert Window refunds everyone's money. If they don't, I'll never try them again. The aggravation isn't worth it.

Side by Side, Doris Justis and Sean McGhee, will be celebrating Saturday, September 26, 2015 with their last concert (sold out!) – “Aloha Concert” – after 31 years of performing together. This concert, produced by the World Folk Music Association, will culminate their participation as WFMA's houseband for over 31 years. They will then go on a permanent hiatus as Doris retires from her dayjob in 2016 and moves to sunny and warm Hawaii! She has been a mainstay of the local folk scene as a concert performer, producer, coffeehouse regular, host of her radio show and production manager of Dick Cerri’s “Music Americana” radio program. Doris is vice president of the World Folk Music Association and was a founding member when Dick set up the organization in 1983. She has remained active as Dick's Talent Coordinator. Sean is a vocalist and guitarist with a quick wit and irreverent sense of humor. A master of the 12-string guitar, he has been featured as one of the “Three Folk Tenors”.

Brought together by the music of John Denver and by Dick, Doris and Sean have performed together for 31 years with a virtual “who’s who” of folk music. Singing and playing guitars, they are celebrated for their close vocal harmonies and fun stage presence. Doris calls reuniting the Chad Mitchell Trio who had not been together for 21 years, in 1986, her 15 minutes of fame. Until this past spring, she was the musical director for the Northern Virginia Ethical Society and remains a member of both NoVES and the Washington Ethical Society. She has been doing aerobic dancing and step since the late 1970s in the Jacki Sorensen program.
