The trio “Vincentz, Hart and Brown” has been a working band for two years. Their debut
release, “Early Reflections” (Steeplechase, 2012) was nominated Danish jazz album of the year and it received a four star review in DownBeat magazine.
Danish saxophonist Niels Vincentz assembled the trio back in 1999 and they produced this great recording. Now the music and the band itself has emerged. Last year they toured in the States and toured and recorded in Denmark. This year the tour extended to Sweden and Norway and their second release, “Gravity” (Steeplechase, 2013) saw the light of day.
Vincentz has been working within the chord-instrument-less sound for some time and he moves fluently through these open waters. His playing is steeped in the jazz tradition, but he is unafraid to pursue his passions to their logical conclusions. He has a wonderful sense of energy-flow, dynamics and balance. Inspired by the breadth and depth of all of jazz history, the trio creates music which is fresh, unique and accessible.
The bandʼs repertoire consists of standards, jazz standards and originals by everyone in the group, with the preponderance of these coming from Vincentzʼ hand.
