-SF Chronicle

Depending on where you find them, Oakland-based band Whiskerman may be keeping the crowd dancing at the Great American Music Hall or holding an intimate audience in the palm of their hand at an acoustic house concert. When Whiskerman singer Graham Patzner became disillusioned with acting school, he turned to songwriting and began to find his voice. With a unique style that sits somewhere between Karen Dalton and John Lennon, Graham's songs range from soulful and rocking to mysterious and introspective. He soon found a unique group of musicians in Will Lawrence on bass, Nick Cobbett on drums, and Charles Lloyd on guitar and sitar. Their most recent release, Bad News, was produced by Tony Berg.
